Installation, Use And Maintenance Of General-purpose Corrugated Expansion Joints

Before installation, check the model, specifications, and piping configuration to ensure they meet design requirements. For sleeve-type corrugated expansion joints, pay attention to the relationship between the medium flow direction and the inner sleeve pipe. For hinged corrugated expansion joints, the hinge rotation plane should be aligned with the displacement plane. During installation, do not use deformation of the corrugated expansion joint to adjust pipe installation errors, as this may affect its normal function, reduce its service life, and increase the load on the pipe and support components. During installation, prevent welding slag from splashing and damaging the corrugated pipe surface, and avoid other mechanical damage.
After installation, remove the yellow auxiliary positioning components and fasteners used during transportation and installation of the corrugated expansion joint as soon as possible, and adjust the limit device to the designated position according to design requirements to ensure the piping system has sufficient compensation capacity under environmental conditions. Ensure that all moving elements of the corrugated expansion joint are not jammed or have their range of motion restricted by external components. During hydrostatic testing, reinforce one end of the pipe with the corrugated expansion joint using pipe supports to prevent pipeline movement or rotation. For corrugated expansion joints and their connecting pipes used for media such as natural gas, temporary supports should be added during water pressure testing.
In terms of maintenance and selection, taking the commonly used metal hose (stainless steel corrugated pipe) in the gas industry as an example, factors such as service life, aging resistance, rodent resistance, and safety are involved. The service life of metal hoses is typically 8-10 years. Their threaded connection is used to prevent accidental detachment and provide a seal.
